AME College is one of the 13 partner learning organizations which comprise the
UHI Millennium Institute - the only higher education learning institution in the
Highlands and Islands of Scotland. That's a geographical area bigger than Wales
or Belgium. It is a Government owned institution and offering AME courses since
1934.
It is one of Scotland's leading colleges of further and higher education. They
have developed a network of Learning Centre throughout Perth & Kinross, to give
people access to education and training in their own communities. The college
provides a wide range of education and training opportunities, in subjects like:
Aircraft Engineering, Computing, Social Sciences, Popular Music Performance and
Child and Youth Studies, Tourism with Travel, Aircraft Engineering, Assessing
Learners & Creative Art, Design and Media & Access to Humanities.
Course Description
Ideal for those wishing to start a career in aircraft maintenance engineering,
these courses cover practical mechanical and avionic engineering and
maintenance. The syllabus is as per EASA IR (European Aviation Safety Agency,
Instructions and Regulations) Part 66 syllabus.. In Year 2 you will extend your
knowledge and skills and carry out an aeronautical project. Past projects have
looked at Concorde’s aerodynamics; turbo technology and innovation in aircraft
and navigation systems.
In year 3, you will study a number of specialist areas including: project
management; aircraft computer systems; aviation and society and aircraft design.
You will engage in a major aircraft engineering project which will prepare you
for work towards chartered engineer status.
