Welcome to the University of Glamorgan
Soon Glamorgan will be attaining Century.
At Glamorgan, they are proud of our growing reputation as a provider of quality
higher education, best illustrated by an excellent Quality Assurance Agency (QAA)
Institutional Review in November 2008 and impressive outcomes from the 2008
Research Assessment Exercise.
As part of the commitment to excellence, a £130 million
capital programme, is undertaken including Atrium – our landmark campus at the heart of
Cardiff city centre, new state-of-the-art science laboratories at Glyntaff and a
new iconic Students’ Union building at Treforest. Renowned for its friendly
community and supportive atmosphere, Glamorgan continues to grow and attracts
more than 21,000 students to its campuses in South Wales and delivery points
across the globe.
The University has developed partnership and franchise agreements with a number
of colleges in Wales, throughout Britain and at many institutions overseas, so
you can study at University of Glamorgan course at your local college. The
University also has excellent links with leading employers in Wales, the UK and
across the globe.
The University of Glamorgan currently has six academic faculties and over 25,000 students studying at campuses across South Wales, at partner further education colleges and centres across the globe, e.g. Bahrain, Hong Kong and Singapore. The current Vice-Chancellor is Professor David Halton and he is supported by over 2,000 academic and support staff.
Three colleges have Accredited College status. This means they have a long-term working relationship with the University and respond to the needs of industry and local communities. All Accredited Colleges have at least one Higher Education Unit to offer Honours and/or Masters-level programmes, along with excellent opportunities for students to progress to the University’s full range of awards. Accredited Colleges also offer e-learning courses.
