Skywings provides numerous opportunities for the students upon successful completion of the pilot training including placement options, career tracking and guidance to ensure the student is on the "fast track" to a long and successful career as a professional pilot.

LOCATION

Sky Wings is located in Red Deer, Alberta, midway between Edmonton and Calgary International Airports. With Banff and the Rocky Mountains under an hour to the west, sparsely settled woodlands to the north and precision I.F.R. approaches at both international airports, Sky wings offer the pilots a unique opportunity to experience all types of flying environments.

Skywings is equipped with modern avionics. They have aircraft that fit all needs, from basic training aircraft to advanced multi-engine turbo prop equipment far exceeding the CAR standards.

Single Engine training is being given in Cessna C152 and C172. Multi-engine training is being given in Piper Seneca and Piper Navajo.

AIR FIELD

A well equipped modern Air Control Tower with VFR and IFR facilities, 2 Runways all makes the training a complete one with the experience of flying into an International Airport.

GROUND SCHOOL

The professional staff of 8 instructors has amassed more than 25,000 hours instructing single engine, multi engine, and I.F.R. flying. They are also well qualified to teach the ground portions of the courses. Ground training is conducted in large and well-equipped classrooms with multimedia presentations. Instrument and Multi-engine preparatory training is provided on an ATC 810 Flight Simulator and an Elite FTD.

ACCOMMODATION

The Town of Penhold is a short 5-minute drive from the airport, and the City of Red Deer is a 10-minute drive. Accommodation in flat-shared ones is available. Facilities include Kitchenette with microwave and fridge. Within walking distance are a convenience store and a recreational facility. Students have various choices of accommodation.
